There is a Small Business Entrepreneur Grant available to newly started small businesses to enable them to access professional advice and support in the critical early stages of establishing a business. This grant has just opened for submission and will be closing on the 13 December 2018. This is only available to businesses that have been trading for less than 4 years, have a Queensland headquarters, have fewer than 20 employees and an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
The funding can be used for the following training, advice or services:
• mentoring/coaching
• business and strategic planning
• professional business advice (information technology (IT), legal or financial)
• marketing strategy development (branding strategies, social media/digital strategies, market research).
Minimum funding that may be provided is $1,000 and the maximum is $5,000.

Matched funding means that the Queensland government will provide an amount to the business that matches what the business pays for that approved training, advice or service. For e.g. the fees for the service provided are $6,000, the grant will provide for $3,000 and the business will need to pay for the other $3,000. The engaged services need to be completed within 3 months of starting the engagement.

- Cashflow workshops and Cashflow budgeting
- Advice on operating your business in the cloud
- Workshops on building your shareholder, partnership, joint venture agreements
